This blog is participating because climate change was part of the genesis for GuideGatineau.
Some years ago the NCC undertook a study on what climate change would mean for their operations. As a cross-country skier I was troubled by the report’s finding* that by 2050 there would be no cross country sking in Gatineau Park (*see page 15 of the linked PDF).
In the winter of 2008/09 I attempted to assemble an archive of cross country skiing sound and interviews and post them to a blog. This effort was unsuccessful but it did inspire GuideGatineau.
I therefore request all lovers of Gatineau Park and all other readers to take the steps they can to combat climate change. If you go to the park, ride your bike. If you can’t do that, car pool. I won’t go on, you know the list of all the things we all should be doing…
