In a letter to the editor at Lowdown Online Muriel How of the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society urges parliamentarians to make amendments to the bill now being considered that will change the legal status of Gatineau Park.

GuideGatineau previously listed upcoming events linked to a Google calendar. I found it onerous to maintain though and combined with technical difficulties that lead me to hide it away. If however, some sweet volunteer wanted to take on the task of keeping a Google calendar up to date, I'd be only too happy to bring it back. CPAWS-VO’s list of amendments, particularly right of first refusal on property sales, is not only the most rational approach to protecting Gatineau Park, it is supported by the overwhelming majority of Canadians polled on the issue.
Roughly 85% of Canadians want these amendments made. Trouble is Lawrence Cannon and John Baird are completely tone deaf to the public and in bed with the landowners.
The county is ripe for some kind of revolt — either emotive or, you know, the other kind
