Robert Rinfret posted a new activity comment: Forgot to mention the horse flies. They swarm you at the shore but don't seem to follow you out into the water. They loved my bike and shoes. These were covered in them when I got back. Couldn't lounge on the shore for long due to them. I was prepared for black flies but no amount of DEET can discorage these big boys.

Even though it’s been weeks since the last snow trails 21 and 20 and 18 and 9 and unofficial old trail 13 (1983 map) across the beaver ponds were in great shape. No Demsis here. A couple tricky spots in some places but nothing dangerous and far more enjoyable than the groomed trails.

I have often wondered what am I paying for. I think I would prefer if no grooming occurred at all. Over the years when I have let hikers and snowshoers know they are not supposed to be on the trails I have been greeted with false oblivousness, been ignored, or recieved verbal abuse.
