Trail #73 from P19 to Parent Beach on Lac Philippe Feb. 19th

Outstanding blue sky today for a 2 hour walk (boots only). No ice on the trail, only compact snow, with spring like conditions in only a few spots.

Trail #70 from P15 to Healy Saturday Feb 18th

Snow conditions were as stiff as a sidewalk yesterday, still had a very enjoyable walk (in boots only) up to Healey and back.

Trail #71 Saturday PM Jan 21st

Conditions were very good, nice layer of powder over a good base.  Slight crusty layer was more noticeable in the southern portion of the loop (near P15), almost non-existent in the northern portion (near Carman lake).

This trail offers great viewpoints of a rolling valley and some nice challenging climbs in the forest.  We stopped a few minutes to warm up by the fire pit before heading back to P15.  Total time: 3 hours.

Trail #60 & 61 Friday Evening

Conditions were very good yesterday. I plan to add pictures on my blog later this afternoon.

Snowshoe Trails 65 and 66 from P2

Snowshoed these trails Wednesday, clockwise. They are a useful addition to the park’s inventory. But the NCC winter trail map of Nov 2011 showing trail 65 is very inaccurate. [Bill enclosed a GPS record of his track that differs somewhat from the NCC mapped lines.] The bottom of 66 is along the powerline, not too interesting, but the climb up from the Mountain Road was quite pleasant, and this section of the trail must have a long history. [I - Charles - believe I've seen old accounts of either the Pink Lake Trail or the Sunrise Trail beginning/ending at Mountain Road.]

Trail #74 Sunday Jan. 8th

Conditions were compact & crusty in places, snowshoes were optional today unfortunately.

Trails #60 & 61 Friday Jan 6th

Trail conditions were good to very good this evening.  Still early in the season, very few bare rocks left on the trail, plenty of fluffy powder off the beaten path.

2012 Snowshoe Season

We’ve got no new snowshoe trail reports yet, but will post them as soon as people start to give feedback. In the mean time here’s a link to the new trails info.

2011-04-06 Trail #60 and 61 by Marc Charron

Trails were in good condition today for a walk in winter boots. Trail #60 had a fair bit of bare spots, some run-off water under the snow cover, very little mud to be found.  Trail #61 more snow cover, particularly on the uphill section (ccw).  Near the top, the snow cover was about 50%, on the way down there were a number of ice patches to avoid, again very little mud.
