We went up to Chelsea today. You can read the report and see some photos here:

Update – Trail #60 & 61
Snow conditions were rather packed this afternoon, not much powder left on the trail. Still some powder left off the beaten-path but we sure could use lots of new snow!!!
Meanwhile, 20 cm of snow are expected in Newfoundland and up to 30 inches in Washington DC.
Oh well, at least we're having Winterlude this year instead of Waterlude
Trail #70 (P15 to Healy & Herridge)
Snowshoes optional!
Snow was softly packed this afternoon on trail #70. Despite not being hard-packed conditions, it was easy to walk the full length of this trail.
Be careful crossing creeks if you decide venture off the trail. The ice is still thin enough and will not support the weight of an adult, as we found out today
Trail Report (Finally!!!) – #60 & 61
Conditions were quite good this afternoon. It was hard to tell we had so much rain last week.
Nice light powder over the trail. It's only on steep slopes that you could notice a bit of a crusty base underneath.
Sam Went Snowshoeing
He says "it's different" (from Twitter) with a picture.
Different from what?
(Or should that be "Different than what?"?)
Can’t be True
No snowshoers have posted reports since the rain but I'm sure that can't mean that there's no snowshoeing going on in Gatineau Park. Conditions would likely be pretty good with a solid base and at least 10 or 12cm of fresh snow.
NCC Posts Ice Warning
In a bit of an unusual move the NCC website cross country ski trail conditions includes the following snowshoe/hiking note:
Pioneers, Sugarbush and Lauriault trails, as well as the snowshoeing trails, are icy and not recommended for hiking.
Sunday Afternoon on Trail #74
Conditions were quite good this afternoon under an overcast sky. Looks like this area of the park received more snow (~4cm?) than the rest of the park (~2cm).
Latest forecast: 30-40 mm of rain in the next 24 hours, preceded by up to 6 hours of freezing rain
Trail #72
From P17 near Wakefield, this trail leads to the Brown cabin, along Brown lake then up & around a large hill before looping back to Brown cabin.
Conditions were good today. Not much powdered snow, mostly packed to hard-packed conditions. We walked the last 3km without our snowshoes.
With 4 mm of freezing rain forecast for tomorrow afternoon, followed by 15mm of rain on Monday, let's hope the trail conditions don't deteriorate too much. Up to 7cm of snow are in the forecast from Tuesday to Thursday.
Lac Philippe on a Friday
Peter Dudley spent his day on snowshoes yesterday and brings us some pictures along with his reflections.
