About 36, 50 and 52
Started from P11 on #36 but gave up after 2 km - it was just too popular yesterday - it’s worn out. All the downhills have high-sides with two deep ruts in the middle made by copious numbers of snowplowers so that it takes a strategy to get down them. There were a number of footprints for the first part until after Carbide Wilson’s mill. It’s do-able but if you’re looking for the fun of the usual fast up-and-down rhythm of 36 it’s just not there.
Changed over tp P16 and did #50 (classic). A delight: for the classic skier - tracks were well-done - fast but still with good kick. The skating track was more problematic with the infamous ridge appearing in places and a number of places where gravel had been pulled up to the surface. The steeper downhills have been scraped down to gravel - particularly in the centre - if you’re concerned about your skis go slow or walk.
Took a detour on #52 for 2km. The grooming had been well done but the surface was hard-packed to the extent that kick was a problem. The major problem was that there is a lot of debris on the trail from the trees. When I got back to #50 I had to scrape my bases to get rid of the bark, twigs, leaves, pine-needles etc. With 2 cm of snow it could be great - until we get some snow perhaps it’s better to stick to the larger trails - #1, #50, the parkways
