Here’s what the NCC replied in response to the idea of a temporary pedestrian bridge. Looks like the hole is a big problem (but I’m not sure it forecloses on a temporary walkway):
Although we appreciate your feedback, it is important to note that the Parkway near P8 is seriously compromised. The responsibility to repair the road is now in the hands of our engineers. This is not a simple culvert; this particular culvert is huge in dimension, with a diameter of 10′. The assessment done by these experts has demonstrated that the surface is still moving downward and that the whole area may collapse at any time now.
The process will require an extensive geotechnical and hydrotechnical analysis/study, some design documents, an environmental assessment as well as a permit request to the Ministry of Fisheries and Oceans Canada, since the work will occur in a fish habitat. After resolving what precedes the tendering process, construction can take place.
Our objective is to replace the culvert as soon as possible. At this point in time, we are hoping to reopen this area in July/August.
At some time, the Western Cordillera (also known as the Rocky Mountains), will become a part of the Western Peneplane.
That is, they will be washed into the sea.
It is only to be hoped that the NCC gets its ass in gear before that happens to

Excuses are not solutions.
Which means, if you don’t like my comment, it doesn’t appear.
Isn’t Democracy “Wonderful?”
