Citizen online comments skeptical
Reader comments in reaction to yesterday's Ottawa Citizen article on the coming Recreation Management Plan seem to indicate that the NCC has a bit of an image problem.
Several people pointed to road-building and car access as running counter to conservation. On the other hand, one writer questioned conservationist dedication to conservation when restrictions might affect uses.
Citizen reports on user concerns
The Ottawa Citizen today carried a report on some anxious user reaction from several Gatineau Park recreational user groups. Skinouk and the Alpine Club of Canada are mentioned as are their concerns about restrictions on ski trail clearing and rock climbing respectively. The NCC spokesperson is quoted as saying nothing is decided yet but that conservation is seen as a priority.

Repair work will take place between Monday, September 21 and Thursday, September 24 on a stretch of Gatineau Park bicycle path just south of the path entrance from the Asticou parking lot.
