  1. Well, chuckles, you’ve got it wrong.

The bill never died. As a result of a rules change a few years ago, all private Commons bills are automatically reintroduced after prorogation… Which is not the case for the Senate — S-204 unfortunately has indeed died.

But I’m glad you mentioned it–after all, I designed it … Eat your heart out John Baird. Absolute perfection, supported by everyone (even the NCC on March 29, 2007)–save for that bunch of thugs known as the Gatineau Park squatters association.

One of my proudest achievements… Fully represents the consensus on Gatineau Park — though Chuckles is afraid to comment on park legislation …

Even managed to convince Dewar to adopt the amendments made by the Senate Energy Committee (many proposed by yours truly).

And don’t you just love that preamble. I wrote that too, for the very Honourable Ed Broadbent.

Might as well crow like you Chuckles, since Dewar doesn’t even answer my emails (though he uses all my material)…

    I guess he’s suspicious cause he thinks I’m liberal…

With apologies to Mark Twain: rumours of the Gatineau Park bill’s death have been much exaggerated.

Finally, I apologize for strutting, it’s so un-Canadian. But I’ve given much blood on the legislative battlefield to bring this to the Order Paper.

And Dewar does deserve some praise. In fact, he’s said this bill is his proudest achievement as a legislator. Now if he could only loosen up and not see dirty Liberals behind every park tree…
