No Grooming This Week – No Trail Reporting Next Week
The NCC website reports today that after Friday they won't be updating the trail conditions unless there is another dump of snow.
Oh, and their server is on the fritz again and doesn't seem to be listing which trails are which that can't be skied on.
Ah well...

Jean-Paul Murray commented on the blog post Why Haven’t the NCC Published the Ecosystem Conservation Plan in Full? 16 hours, 2 minutes ago
Sorry, I don’t buy your argument excusing the bogus release of the Conservation Plan.
The Plan is 2 years late (p. 21, Gatineau Park Master Plan, 2005), and missing from official release of the Plan … was the … Plan…
I was told the previous (2009) draft of the still-missing Plan was “95%” the same [...]

The sequel:
As reported by Jo-Ann I skied yesterday, via Fischer Crown waxless, to the intersection of #1 blue and the old #10. I could have done the additional 1km+ to the tower without problem.
Up to the Wolf Ridge I found conditions difficu. . .

Very well done Charles. You are seeking the facts, and I’m impressed.
Note: when the government releases its Budget, it doesn’t only release a summary. If it did, the Opposition would scream bloody murder!
Canadians have to stop being so deferential; they have to realize the government belongs to them.
Sovereignty rests with us, not with the [...]

Charles Hodgson wrote a new blog post: Why Haven’t the NCC Published the Ecosystem Conservation Plan in Full? 20 hours, 52 minutes ago
There have been questions as to why the NCC would publish the Ecosystem Conservation Plan summary but not the full plan. Some said it was a translation issue, others suspected that something was being hidden. In either case wasn’t it a little much in the internet age to ask interested parties to go to [...]

P12-trail 40, 24, Ridge to Wolf, along Ridge to trail 2 to P12.
Having almost skied yesterday, Ron’s last report inspired me to get out today for a final farewell ski. Now that I’ve seen how much snow is left on the "dark side" of the . . .

I’ve seen a number of tweets, trail reports and TriRudy submissions in the last few days talking about how the skiing is still good if you get high enough into Gatineau Park. The NCC trail conditions page even showed the Fortune Parkway as skiable as recently as yesterday (today they show zero percent of the [...]

Charles Hodgson wrote a new blog post: Why Is There A Penguin In Gatineau Park? 2 days ago
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tkuV14kte80
There exists in Gatineau Park a lovely picnic site called Penguin. This is an unusual name for a geographic feature, lying as it does about eleven thousand kilometers from the nearest penguin habitat; therein lies a tale.
In winter skiers can park at P5, also called Penguin and if they head north they pass the sign [...]

Yeah, I went for a bike ride in the park today. Road down Notch and Mine Road.
Along Mine I passed by the grown over road built by Contractor Calr McInnis, a road leading to the 80+ properties he had subdivided. He planned to build these houses about 300 feet from Pink Lake.
Well, that didn’t [...]
