The Heritage Committee of the Friends of Gatineau Park is looking for new members to join the Committee and help in building a heritage interpretation program.
The main qualification is an interest in the history and cultural heritage of Gatineau Park.
Contributions could include:
- to help organize public interpretation programs and activities,
- to communicate with the public in either English or French,
- to research local history in libraries and archives,
- to interview people associated with the park’s history,
- to write interpretive texts and historical stories.
Last year members of the Committee helped prepare a Heritage Day activity at the Visitor Centre, offered guided walks focussed on the local history of the Brown Lake area, organized an evening lecture and prepared stories on the history of Gatineau Park.
Members of the Committee meet 6-10 times yearly. In the past two years meetings have been held on weekday mornings, however that will be changed to evenings if necessary to accommodate new members.
If you are interested, please contact Gershon Rother, the Chairman of the Heritage Committee at 819.827.0276 or [email protected]
