Description
The 2005 Master Plan set in motion the development of a Gatineau Park Ecosystems Conservation Plan that is due out in January 2010. This Ecosystems Conservation Plan in turn will govern plans covering recreation, transportation, heritage and interpretation.

News
On Wednesday November 18, 2009 the NCC produced a preliminary document indicating the state of the ecosystem of Gatineau Park and some of the implications on park users. This document can be seen here.
In summary: the ecosystem is relatively healthy but needs protection; ”most recreational activities will not be affected”; three have been identified for which modifications to usage are proposed in the short term, rock-climbing, hang-gliding, and horseback riding.

The early indications are that the Park is ecologically relatively healthy – that's good. The NCC wants to keep it that way – that's good.
