CPAWS Urges C-20 Amendments

In a letter to the editor at Lowdown Online Muriel How of the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society urges parliamentarians to make amendments to the bill now being considered that will change the legal status of Gatineau Park.

  1. CPAWS-VO’s list of amendments, particularly right of first refusal on property sales, is not only the most rational approach to protecting Gatineau Park, it is supported by the overwhelming majority of Canadians polled on the issue.

    Roughly 85% of Canadians want these amendments made. Trouble is Lawrence Cannon and John Baird are completely tone deaf to the public and in bed with the landowners.

    The county is ripe for some kind of revolt — either emotive or, you know, the other kind
